Explore the summer in Mid Sweden!
Have you ever met a brown bear in its natural habitat? In Mid-Sweden you can, if you want to – the province is full of them. Are you interested in culture and history? Seven of our 1,000 Hälsingegårdar became a World Heritage Site in July 2012. If you have small children, they can solve a mystery in the middle of a fairytale here and experience all the mythical characters from Swedish ancient folklore. Or why not catch a fish, take a swim or enjoy a trolley bike ride through the beautiful natural surroundings?
Welcome to Mid Sweden Hälsingland and Gästrikland!
From north to south, and from the hinterland to the coast, Mid-Sweden is one huge natural playground for children.
In Mid-Sweden you can experience wild encounters with lynx, moose, wolverine, wolf, brown bear, roe deer, beaver, black grouse or capercaillie.
The farmhouses of Hälsingland newly added to the World Heritage list, traditional craftsmanship at one of the country's few remaining linen mills and axes forged according to old traditions. These are only some of the pearls here in Mid-Sweden.
Choose from easy activities like hiking trails, minor roads for rambling and canoeing or exciteing ones like downhill cycling and ride a railbike at the shore of the Dellen lake.
Whether you want to enjoy a traditional Swedish “fika”, which is usually a cup of coffee with a cinnamon bun, or perhaps even a four course meal with locally produced ingredients in a highly well-reputed restaurant, there are plenty of choices available.
